Monthly updates and future plans

Since the first release we worked hard and managed to get quite a good bunch of  stuff into the game. We always try to improve and constantly discuss  different topics. What's next, where do we need to improve?

We realized that the monthly release cycle forces us to focus on short term improvements and content. There's simply not enough time to make big changes or add larger scaled content.

We have alot of ideas but one month is often not enough to implement them in a decent way. For example: Since we added the village not much happened there. Some additions here and there but overall it feels lack luster. To really make the village a worthy part of the game we need one month. We never did it because we felt an update with only a reworked village would be disappointing for our supporters.

Our goal is to make a game with good gameplay and appealing sexual content. So we came to the conclusion to change our release cycle.
From now on we won't release a new version at the beginning of every month (or later as a free version). Versions will be released "when it's done". We will keep you updated on the progress more regulary so you'll get a glimpse of what's coming next.

For supporters this means: your support is more general - to see our game grow, to get stuff earlier and have insight in the creation process. We really appreciate that. But we also understand those who are not willing to support a game which doesn't throw out new content on a fixed time every month.

So what are we planning to do with the game? We were talking about how to improve the gameplay in general and decided that we want to try out a different approach for the combat.

The concept of the village might also change as we went away from the initial idea of crafting and building the village.

Another big thing on our list is to make the world feel more lively meaning we are trying to increase the map sizes as well as creating a way to add more 'villager' NPCs. Not relevant for the story but there to  populate the world. Those NPCs might also be a source for new, lewd  content as we also want to test the long demanded sexscenes with ingame graphics.

So, just a glimpse of what we are planning. I will keep you updated shortly with some more infos.

Update to V.1611-02! Critical save bugfix

This update fixes a game breaking bug regarding quests. This is the first unity AGAHD release which requires a minor version patch. The problem is a stupid naming bug.

The third party asset (tool / addon) we use for dialogues and quests uses capitalized quest states on the programming side: 'Unassigned', 'Active', 'Success'.
For some reason they decided to use lowercase quest states in the database: 'unassigned', 'active', 'success'.
We knew this and made it right... 7 out of 8 times. It was corret in our debug tools, that's why this bug slipped through the tests.
After loading the game every lowercase quest state was overwritter by uppercase quest states.
In the end the game checken: 'Active' is not equal 'active', what messed up the whole quest system.

If you saved only once, save files work. If you saved multiple times on the same save state it's most likely broken.
We will try to improve our tests, but especially quests have thousands of combinations which makes it hard to find all bugs. Thanks to Ian Gilligan for informing us of this bug.

New release V.1611-01

Hey folks,

it is time to make the latest release public, so here ya go! V.1611-01 is available for download in the download-section of this blog. Please keep in mind that old savegames sadly wont work this time. We had to restructure some technical stuff for them so they now will hopefully work for future versions. It's always a bit tricky with save as some things might change here and there which are then missing in the old save and thus breaking the game. But we will improve on that.

Savegamefix V.1609-01 to V.1610-01

Hey people,

some of you reported having problems loading their old savegames in the new released version. It's a stupid bug. When we added the new multiple save game feature, the old save game worked. Then we added more new features and forgot to look at the old save game again.

The game is changing everyday and it's hard to keep track of all the relevant things. To make your 1609 save game work in the 1610 version check our download page. There you will find a patch.

However it's not recommended to use your old save game. While investigating this issue we realized there may be some problems with the quests and the gallery. Also we modified some old areas, so there's some replay value.

For future versions we will always try to make old save games work, but sometimes the changes are too fundamental.

Sorry for the inconvenience, we'll do our best to avoid things like that.

Half Monthly Update

Hey folks,

half a month passed now and we've been busy working on AGAHD and I wanted to give you a short update. We've implemented a new dialogue system which gives us much more possibilities on evolving the story and adding quests. Also, we've added a new area which will inhabit new enemies and there will be a bossfight this time, where you get some stuff to progress in the game. Besides the new content, we reworked some of the menus for a better overview of your resources. Still, there is a lot to do, for example adding more naughty stuff. As the game now takes more form and we build and implemented much of the needed tools, we look forward on focussing more on that.

On one thing, we sadly have to step back a bit for now, which is animating the explicit scenes. Our first attempt which involved importing animations made with a seperate tool didn't work out quite well, because the lack of control through the importing and with the files being unnecessarily big. We wont cut it, but we probably wont target this issue before the next update, which will arrive at the beginning of the next month (for our patreons, then later to public).

AGAHD -Unity Port- Tech Demo 1607-01

Hey folks,

A small techdemo of the game made with unity. We tried to give you a general impression on how the game will feel, but of course there is still a lot of work to do. So please keep in mind that most things are still pretty rough, as we wanted to implement the most core features first before finetuning too much.

If you encounter any bugs, please report them to us. Also we appreciate any kind of feedback or support via patreon.

Progress Update

So far, a small update on the overall progress:

What we've done so far:
* Building the base structure in unity
* Implemented player movement and combat
* Added several maps (prison and forest) incl. objects
* Implemented enemies (there are actually four enemies in this version) incl. pathfinding and A.I.
* Implemented base resource system: enemies drop loot on death
* Added UI: menu, inventory and resources
* Added NPC dialogue UI

So that is quite a lot in a short amount of time. To get a better impression, here are two videos of gameplay footage:

GUI Design Mockup

Here's some additional input. Two example screens of how the new gui MAY look like. This is still pretty early and some of the icons and stuff are just placeholders to give you an overall impression.

We also plan to animate the sexscenes with the help of an additional member, but that's for much later.



General information about the new engine and changes to the game

Hey folks,

We've been a bit quiet lately. We had a content update half finished but also decided, that for the future, we need to move the game to another engine to have more options when it comes to graphics and gameplay improvement.

Halfway through the month we started completly to port the game to the unity engine, which some of you might already know. I can say that we achieved a lot in just two weeks, but of course it's still a lot of work to do to get it to a playable version, let alone reach the amount of content we already had. That's the reason we didn't released the update with the new content we had so far. It would've felt cheap, because the game will change quite a bit, even though the core stays the same.


What will be new? Some of our plans:
Real-time combat in a more action-rpg like fashion
Better graphics in general
A different way to interact with npc's: The abandoned village will work like a hub. Through your journey of finding Dickmeat you will rescue various npc's, which will settle down in the village
The village can be upgraded with various resources you find in the world
Village upgrades will give you new quests from npc's, increasing their affection towards you and unlocking some naughty stuff
What Nadia wears will also be visible on the map

Sneak peak

Well, we've been working hard, that's the reason behind the missing updates. Everything's new but also stays the same in some way. It's safe to say now, that we'll port A girl and her dog to another engine (which is unity), to have more freedom when it comes to graphics. So here's a small peak on how the game will look like in the future:


 




I wont say anything about new features, but the gameplay will drastically improve and be quite different from how it is now. Hope to see you soon, stay tuned.

While working on a lot of new cool content, we got some feedback about crashes or some event issues, so we decided to release a patched Version of V.1605-03. This update doesn't contain any new content and is for the ones of you experiencing problems with V03.

Savefile issue with Miranda

If you played V.1605-02 and used your savegame for 03, you will probably not be able to find Miranda again. This has a technical reason because in V02 she was ported to a different - not accessable - map then in V03 and this info isn't updated. So if you didn't find her in her cave, what you can do is:
* Go to your gamefolder
* Open your savefile.save with a standard texteditor
* Look very much at the bottom for some lines that say something like:

<NpcInfo>
<Data InternalName="MirandaSuccubus" Name="Miranda" AffectionPoints="45" ShowAffectionPoints="true" Male="false" Female="true" EventName="SuccubusMirandaMainEvent" />
<MapInternalName>NPCVoid</MapInternalName>
<AffectionPoints>45</AffectionPoints>
<X>10</X>
<Y>3</Y>

* Change NPCVoid to MirandaCave01
* Change the bottom values for x and y to 10 and 3

That should make her appear in her cave if you already finished her questline on the graveyard.
This is a problem that probably will appear too in the next version so we try to figure out a fix for this.

V.1605-03 public release

Hey folks. Thank you all for your valuable feedback and thanks to those people supporting us via patreon. We really appreciate it. We've not been lazy, a few days ago, we released V.1605-03 for our patreons as a free extra, now we're bringing it to the public. It contains several bugfixes, now resizable window and a small content update.

Feel free to download and to give us feedback. Your old savefile should work if you copy it to the folder. Please report to us when you are experiencing any troubles.

Quick Look (at Lewdgamer)
It's been a week already and we had a lot of work to do for agahd so i completly forgot to mention the Quick Look at A girl and her dog on Lewdgamer. The Author Pseudo has been so nice to play the first release and write a small first impression.

Patch V.1605-03
It's been just a few days since we published the first version of A girl and her dog and we recieved a lot of feedback from you guys (and maybe girls). Thank you for that, we really appreciate it. Also special thanks to those people pledging to us via patreon.

We fixed all reported bugs and the game window will be resizeable. This should solve all display issues and make the game playable on all screen resolutions. As a bonus we added some new content.

What's next?
This will be a free update, but our patrons will get it a few days before everyone else. At the end of the month, there will be a mayor update for patrons which will be released to public the following month afterwards.

So stay tuned! Here's a little teaser

We got some feedback from Windows 10 users that the game won't work under said os. Either it's crashing instantly or not starting at all. That's some nice .NET compatibility problem between win 7 and 10. We tried to fix it, so please use this downloadlink for now if you are Windows 10 user

A girl and her dog is a story-driven adult rpg where you play as Naida, a girl searching for her beloved dog Dickmeat. On her journey she will encounter many people. Some may help, others may not. She will have to fight, explore the world and - of course - do a lot of naughty things.

Development
We are a team of two (programmer and designer) currently working on the game. The first public build is an preview alpha with some areas, some npcs you can interact, different quests and a lot of stuff you can do.

We are going to update with new content on a regular monthly basis. We have a lot of ideas for new areas, npcs, new quests for existing npcs and a lot more fun stuff but of course we would appreciate your feedback. You can also discuss upcoming new features with us or which new content you would like to see.

If you happen to find any bugs, please report them to us. Either way over comments in our blog or via mail at pixelprodukt. If the game crashes, it creates an errorlog.txt file you can also send us for a better understanding of what went wrong.
